Lump sum at the start860,53 $-28,3 %
Regular instalments would have earned 400,36 $ more over this period.
Over long periods, lump sum statistically wins more often, as markets rise over time. Regular instalments avoid betting everything at the wrong moment.
What about a savings account?
The same instalments on a French Livret A at 1,70 % would have given 1 210,84 $.
That is 50,04 $ less than your simulation.
Rate in force since 01/08/2026, free of income tax and social contributions. The Livret A is state-guaranteed, unlike a crypto-asset.
This simulator replays the past. Past performance is no guide to future performance. This is neither investment advice nor a recommendation.
What this simulation does not say
History available: 383 days.
Prices are in dollars: the euro-dollar exchange rate effect is not included.
Only per-order fees are counted: no currency conversion fees, withdrawal fees or taxes.
Each purchase is simulated at the daily closing price.
Livret A interest is estimated pro rata by day, whereas it is actually computed by fortnights.
Compare four behaviours
Same prices, four ways to invest, from the same amount. Scenarios are recomputed at each instalment, as the model would have seen them that day.

Assisted DCA — if the projection is rising, buys immediately at the day's price; otherwise the order waits for the projected trough. Trough not reached: nothing is invested and the amount is added to the next instalment.
Assisted DCA, delayed — same decision as above, but the order is only placed from day +2: the first days are ignored. Immediate buying on a rising projection stays on the instalment day.
Market direction — all or nothing: invests everything when the projection turns upward, sells the whole position when it turns downward.
Assisted swing — same steps, but buys only trigger when the projection is rising: no averaging down into an expected fall.
DCA at first dip — at each period, the contribution waits for the first dip of the projected path; with no projected decline, it buys immediately. If not filled before the next period, the contribution stays in cash.
Swing trading — orders laddered on Fibonacci retracements, measured between support (0 %) and resistance (100 %). Buys: 20 % à 38.2 %, 30 % à 23.6 %, 50 % à 0 % of cash. Sells: 40 % à 61.8 %, 60 % à 78.6 % of the position.
